That Much Brighter

Wringing out these dripping days

Rain pounding on my head

Icicles may form here

Trickling down from all we've said 

Ignited in a moment

Ne'er to be seen again

Gliding towards understanding  

Lost inside oblivion 

Endeavoring to return to when -

The stars shown that much brighter 

The night was soft and cool

Eternity felt closer

Rushing on like such a fool 

Stay within this moment 

Turn it over in your mind

Offering no resolution 

My thoughts all fall behind

Yearning for when the stars all aligned 

Satisfy this last desire 

Entwined with every plight 

Lost amidst this churning chaos 

Find yourself out in the light 

Condensation

Summer heat may melt away

Each thought crossing my mind

All dripping from my fingers

Running far behind

Catch them for a moment

Hold still for but a breath

Inch your way towards understanding

Negate one burning death

Go forth to find where

Frost glistens and gleams

Over snow and ice

Rustling between my dreams

Searching for perfection 

Not to be found between my ears

Out amidst this condensation  

Wash away these dripping years

Let winter cold solidify 

All the thoughts within my mind

Narrowing the endless search

Down to something we can find

Here We Are

Under swaying skies

Over grass and dew

Between me and you

Let us take a moment

To breathe in calm

And exhale strain

To soak in rain

Here we are 

With anxious heart

And scattered mind

All to find

Where lights dance

And colors merge

Where thought crowds 

And soaks in clouds

Under forgotten stars

Over rock and sea

Between you and me

Let us give a moment

To the passing years

To all we've done

Soaking in sun

Dust & Stars

Still the world spins on and on

Oceans turn to steam 

Maybe I could grasp it now

Entrap reality in a dream

Were it but a matter of

Holding it between my hands

Echoing sharper minds than mine

Raining golden sands 

Endeavor to catch the sunlight

Bring it with me throughout the day

Endeavor to feel the moonlight 

Turn it into pretty words to say

Were it but a matter of

Entreating every sky

Extracting no responses

Nor even the softest sigh

During this time of turmoil 

Uncertainty and changing tides

Still grasping at the edges 

Trapped amidst these divides 

And were it but a matter of

Not getting involved 

Damned to sink or swim together 

Solitarily, nothing is solved  

Turn it over in your mind now

Accost the night to greet the dawn 

Reach for something better 

Still the world spins on and on

Here & Now

To focus my mind on this now -

Oh, if I were made that way

When there's so much else to dwell on

So many other things to say

Too many to pin down now

In a time of new turmoil and old

Yet also this new certainty 

The thoughts all bend and fold

But try to think on this now

Where the changing ages meet 

The feeling of spilled time  

The sound of shifting feet 

We’re starting a new chapter here

Stepping into twenty-four 

Building something different 

Something I’ve never done before

It’s so hard to focus on right here

With such enticing things to plan

And all the latest drama 

Causing my mind to pan 

But try to value right here

This one day amidst three hundred sixty-five

The feeling of the sun

And the sound of being alive
