Autumn blazing through the rain
Colliding with the ground
Kindling the trees again
Ignite the world in shades of
Tangerine and scarlet
Unearth the hidden spoors
Petrichor and cold sweat
Picking through the debris
After one more fearsome storm
Cold and unpredictable
Kneading flesh to keep us warm
Inscribe the world with leaves of
Tamarack and tupelo
Inhaling pine and ragweed til
Needles fade beneath the snow
